In consultation with the Director of Senior Services Vicky Schneider and Mayor Mike Vandersteen, City Administrator Darrell Hofland is closing the Senior Activity Center of Sheboygan (Center) effective immediately. The Center will remain closed through Sunday, April 12, 2020.
Because Senior Citizens have been identified as a vulnerable population to COVID-19, this decision was made to keep Center participants as safe and healthy as possible by minimizing their potential exposure to and spread of COVID-19.
During the period of closure, Senior Activity Center staff will continue to report to work and respond to phone calls and emails.
The closure will not affect the Center as a polling location for the Spring election on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.
All other City buildings, programs, and services will continue to operate as usual.
The City of Sheboygan continues to be in contact with Sheboygan County Division of Health as the city monitors this evolving public health situation. The Division of Public Health is diligently working with state, local, and national partners to coordinate its local preparedness and response to COVID-19 in our community. As a part of this effort, clear and credible communication to the public and our community partners is of utmost priority to the city. Updates are posted on the Public Health website, Facebook page, and residents can also subscribe to the Public Health COVID-19 Email Alerts.
