City of Sheboygan Hosts Second Leg of P1 Offshore Triple Crown Race Series

December 19, 2024 by Veronica Valdez

Sheboygan, Wisconsin – December 19, 2024 –The City of Sheboygan is thrilled to announce that it will serve as the second venue for the inaugural P1 Offshore Triple Crown race series, set to take place on August 8-10, 2025, along the picturesque shores of Lake Michigan. For the third consecutive year, P1 Offshore returns to Sheboygan, showcasing the city’s vibrant waterfront and establishing it as a premier destination for world-class offshore racing.

This innovative series, governed by the American Power Boat Association (APBA), features premier offshore racing teams competing across three iconic venues: New Orleans, Louisiana; Sheboygan, Wisconsin; and St. Petersburg, Florida. The Triple Crown will deliver six thrilling races with a special prize fund awarded to champions in each class. Alongside the adrenaline-pumping offshore powerboat races, P1 AquaX jet ski competitions will add another layer of excitement, highlighting the best in marine motorsport.

Mayor Ryan Sorenson expressed his enthusiasm for Sheboygan’s continued partnership with P1 Offshore: “We are thrilled to welcome back the Powerboat P1 Midwest Challenge to the beautiful shores of Sheboygan, the Malibu of the Midwest, for the third year in a row. This event has become a highlight of our summer, showcasing our city’s dynamic waterfront and bringing together residents and visitors for an unforgettable ride. We are looking forward to another fantastic year of racing, connection, and celebration as part of the P1 Offshore Triple Crown.”

Sheboygan’s leg of the series is expected to draw thousands of spectators, providing a significant economic boost to the community while reinforcing its reputation as a destination for premier events.

P1 Offshore USA’s head, Thomas Covington, highlighted the series’ broader appeal: “With the support of leading venues, sponsors, and partners, the Triple Crown will showcase the very best in offshore racing, alongside P1 AquaX jet ski action, to create an outstanding spectacle for fans and visitors. All three rounds will be broadcast live on MAVTV and P1’s live-streaming platforms, as well as covered by FanDuel Sports Network and international sports channels.”

In addition to the racing excitement, the P1 Marine Foundation will contribute proceeds from the Triple Crown to support local non-profits focused on marine conservation, water safety, and youth educational programs in each race location. These efforts underscore a commitment to fostering sustainability and protecting marine ecosystems for future generations.

The City of Sheboygan invites residents and visitors to mark their calendars for August 8-10, 2025, and join in the excitement of this premier racing event.
