Department Purpose
The Mayor is the CEO of the City and the head of the government for Sheboygan. The Mayor works with the City Council and City staff to help improve and move the community forward. The Mayor is the primary officer that handles external affairs. The Mayor partners and works with many other external organizations to collaborate on key community initiatives.
Department Description
The Mayor actively works with economic development organizations to see local businesses grow, attract new businesses, and attract good jobs to the city. The Mayor is also an active, enthusiastic representative of the city’s best economic interests. The Mayor is the city’s goodwill ambassador and the face of city government, spending significant time meeting with concerned residents and addressing constituent questions. The Mayor participates in community activities and events such as parades, festivals, events, and ceremonies that enhance the visibility and economic well-being of the city. The Mayor makes all required and necessary appointments to special and standing committees of the council and other boards and commissions as required by statute.
