Public Works Departments nationwide are joining forces to commemorate the 63rd Annual National Public Works Week, taking place from May 21 to May 27, 2023. The chosen theme for this year’s event, “Connecting the World Through Public Works,” aims to acknowledge the universal significance of public works in bridging communities across the globe. Regardless of geographical location, public works serve as the common link that binds us together. With an unwavering commitment to enhancing the well-being of their respective communities, every public works professional strives to foster healthier and happier societies.
The theme, “Connecting the World Through Public Works,” underscores the role of public works professionals in establishing both physical connections through infrastructure and inspirational connections through community service. Whether they are first responders or dedicated individuals carrying out their daily responsibilities, public works professionals play a crucial role in connecting us. It is of utmost importance for the residents, civic leaders, and children in the City of Sheboygan to understand and appreciate the significance of public works and its programs in our community. Throughout the duration of National Public Works Week, the City of Sheboygan will showcase different divisions of its Public Works Department on social media, spotlighting the dedicated professionals and their responsibilities.
By providing essential services in transportation, water management, wastewater and stormwater treatment, public facilities and spaces, parks and landscapes, emergency management and response, waste management, and right-of-way maintenance, public works professionals contribute to the strength of our communities. They are the driving force behind creating exceptional living and working environments. Let us come together to celebrate the invaluable yet often unnoticed contributions of these professionals, as they strive to make our lives better.
