Sheboygan, Wisconsin – April 8, 2024 – The City of Sheboygan is proud to announce the annual Memorial Day Parade and Celebration, in collaboration with United States Veterans and active-duty personnel, the Sheboygan County Veterans Service Office, and Launch: Lakeland Student-Run Businesses. Kohler Credit Union is graciously sponsoring the parade, which will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024, in downtown Sheboygan.
The Memorial Day Parade will commence at 9:00 am, starting at 7th Street & Center Avenue and proceeding north on 7th Street to Michigan Avenue, west on Michigan to 9th Street, south on 9th Street, and concluding at Fountain Park. This cherished event honors the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country while also celebrating the commitment of those who continue to serve.
Pre-Parade festivities will kick off at 8:45 am with a special event hosted by Marine Corps Recruiting Station Milwaukee. Young men and women aspiring to join the Marine Corps will showcase their commitment with a motivation run during the parade. This tradition symbolizes the discipline, camaraderie, and enthusiasm of our Marines worldwide. All are invited to witness this inspiring display of dedication and support for our service members.
Following the parade, a solemn ceremony will take place at Fountain Park, featuring tributes to veterans and active-duty personnel. We are honored to welcome distinguished guest speaker, Chief Boatswain’s Mate Roberto D. Bobonis, from the United States Coast Guard who will deliver remarks honoring our military community’s sacrifice and service.
Additionally, a Brat Fry will be held at Fountain Park immediately after the parade, with 100% of proceeds benefiting the Military and Youth Foundation and Marine Corps League. This is an excellent opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy delicious food, and contribute to meaningful causes that support our veterans and youth.
“We are honored to host the Memorial Day Parade and Celebration in partnership with our veterans, active-duty personnel, and community organizations,” said Mayor Sorenson. “This event serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women and allows us to come together as a community to honor their memory.”
