The City of Sheboygan is continuing to monitor the status of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak. At this point, the city is encouraging the community to take the following measures regarding interactions with city departments, programs, and services.
All face-to-face and in-person visits to city government buildings are highly discouraged. The city is looking to limit the potential exposure at municipal buildings to protect staff and the general public. This will also help city staff to maintain its ability to continue providing essential services. Please contact the respective departments in lieu of coming to a particular department to learn what alternative options there are to conduct business over the phone, email, or fax.
General Inquiries
If you have a general service inquiry or need assistance from City staff, please call or email rather than visit. The city likely can complete your request or transaction without in-person interactions.
Payments
Contact the applicable department by phone to discuss options that would avoid face-to-face contact. The department directory is available at www.sheboyganwi.gov/directory. Options may include online payments or use of the drop box located on N. 9th Street adjacent to City Hall and at the Police Department.
City Government Meetings
Between Tuesday, March 17, 2020 and Sunday, April 12, 2020, public meetings are being reviewed for possible cancellation.
The next regularly scheduled Common Council meeting is set for Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at 6:00 pm at City Hall. The city is encouraging the general public to consider foregoing in-person attendance in favor of viewing the live meetings on the WSCS channel and recorded meetings on their YouTube channel. Status of meetings can be found on www.sheboyganwi.gov.
City Hall Remains Open
City Hall staff will remain working, either at City Hall or remotely, and will be available to answer questions regarding city services. Face-to-face and in-person visits to city government buildings are highly discouraged. Staff will be limiting informal meetings involving the public. Absentee Voting: April 7, 2020, Spring Election And Presidential Preference Vote
The City Clerk’s office will be open for in-person absentee voting. In-person absentee voting begins on Wednesday, March 18 and continues through Friday, April 3. The hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with extended hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday, April 3.
Requesting an Absentee Ballot by Mail: To request a ballot be mailed to you at home, please visit myvote.wi.gov/en-us/VoteAbsentee. You may be required to submit photo identification with your application. Please visit bringit.wi.gov for information on photo identification. The deadline for requesting a ballot by mail is 5:00 pm on April 2, 2020.
Registering to Vote: Wednesday, March 18, 2020 is the deadline for electors to register to vote by mail or online for the Presidential Preference Primary and Spring Election. After this date, electors must register in-person in the City Clerk’s office or at the polling place on Election Day. According to state law, mailed voter registration forms must be postmarked no later than the third Wednesday before the election. Online registration closes at 11:59 pm the same day. Online voter registration is available at myvote.wi.gov.

Senior Activity Center Closure
The Senior Activity Center will be closed to the public Monday, March 16, 2020 through Sunday, April 12, 2020. This closure will be reassessed as the city nears the end of the four week period.

Water Utility Office Payment Window Closure
Effective March 13, 2020, the Water Utility Office Payment Window will be closed to the public until further notice. All Water Utility staff will be available during normal business hours by phone 920-459-3800 or by email customerservice@sheboyganwater.org. Payments can be made by calling 920-459-3800, option 1, by visiting Sheboyganwater.org, by mailing payment, or by placing the payment in the drop box located outside the Water Utility Office.
Mead Public Library Remains Open
Mead Public Library will remain open. This will be subject to change based on recommendations from local health officials. Please watch www.meadpl.org and their Facebook page for updated information. Stay healthy!
Police Department Program Changes
The Police Department is suspending fingerprint services, the Citizens Academy, Hop with a Cop event, Coffee with a Cop event, and Police Department tours. The Police Department is encouraging residents to call with questions or complaints that can be handled over the phone instead of coming to the Police Department. Fire Department Program Changes
The Fire Department is suspending department tours.
City Public Park Buildings
All city public park buildings are closed including restrooms for the next 60 days. All rentals during this period will be canceled and refunds will be via check and sent in the mail.
Sheboygan/Kohler Municipal Court
Court hearings and pretrial conferences have been postponed until further notice. Rescheduled dates will be sent via mail. Call 920-459-0212 or email municipalcourtdept@sheboyganwi.gov with questions or concerns.

Prevent the spread – wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, cover your coughs and sneezes, and stay home when you are ill.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health has issued recommendations for individuals, families, and businesses to consider regarding COVID-19. That information is available HERE.
The recommendation of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is if you traveled to a country with a level 3 travel health notice for COVID-19, you will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days after returning to Wisconsin. If you have a fever, cough, and shortness of breath, seek medical attention and stay home. This means do not go to school, work, enter public buildings, or attend large gatherings.
